DO NOT BRING YOUR MACBOOK HERE. They don't have the expertise to fix or retrieve data, and crucially, they won't communicate promptly or professionally about it. My laptop sat with them for (2) two months. If they'd told me sooner that it was beyond their ability to fix, info they sat on for a month, I could have taken it elsewhere. Communicative, transparent, and honest. I found these guys after other local data recovery options, Best Buy, and the service partnered with my actual mobile insurance quoted $1000+ amounts for getting the pics and video off a broken phone. Larry, the owner, was kind enough to bend to my schedule and make time for me after hours to take a look at my phone, replied to me quickly and clearly about its status, and offered me an actual fair rate for service. Unfortunately my phone turned out to be too damaged to work on without more complicated and expensive repairs than they offered, but still, I really appreciate the time they took to look, the time that they held onto my phone for, Larry's willingness to recommend other services for my case, and that I wasnt charged when I finally was able to go pick my broken phone up. Amazing job, can't recommend enough! HDD broken for around 15 years. Kept pushing of bc of price. Recommended by a friend to try this place out. Don't regret the choice. Amazing service and got the data off the drive for an unbelievable price. Was kinda shocked that there even was a place that recovers drives PROFESSIONALLY, that didn't rip you off for $2k. If you’re reading this, you probably need immediate help and are stressed and upset that you’re about to lose all your files and pictures. In my case, I had liquid damage to a 14-inch MacBook Pro and none of my data was saved anywhere else not even in the Cloud. I brought it to Data Recovery New Jersey in Watchung feeling genuinely concerned about losing everything. From the beginning, they were clear about what might be possible and what the limitations were. They didn’t overpromise or pressure me to move forward, which I appreciated. The only uncertainty for me was the cost. I was given a range of $100 to $500 depending on what they found, and there was no diagnostic fee, which made it easier to proceed. Communication was consistent throughout, and I always knew where things stood. They were able to recover the data I needed, and the final price came in toward the higher end of the range, closer to $500. That included the Recovery Labor, a 1 TB USB 3.0 External Hard Drive, and New Jersey Sales Tax. One piece of advice, if you’re bringing in a MacBook Pro covered by AppleCare+, make sure all screws and parts are put back properly before taking it to Apple for repair. Otherwise, it may be considered ineligible for service. Thank you to Matt and Larry for their help. A special thanks to Matt, who worked on my device and kept me in the loop. In an age of planned obsolescence, it’s getting harder to find places that can actually repair and or recover data from devices like this. I would recommend them if you want a clear, honest process. Quite impressive, actually went to their New Jersey location after perusing their website and checking their credentials.  This shop seems to have everything you would need for your best chance of recovering data whether you have an SSD drive, mechanical drive or removable media.  I was kindly received and lucky enough to see the extensive tools software and hardware that were on the premises. Larry and Co. are amazing!  I waited far too long to replace my three old HDDs (5 GBs total) and upon trying to transfer my data to new drives in my new desktop, they all failed.  This was 35 years of my music, videos, photos, files, etc, much of which I could never replace.  One drive had suffered an initialization failure and the other two from hardware failures.  I thoroughly researched data recovery options in NYC and the surrounding area and found Data Recovery New Jersey had stellar reviews.  The reviews were detailed, personal and mentioned that Data Recovery New Jersey actually does all of their data recovery in house, unlike most other companies with generic reviews that outsource their data recovery to external labs. I brought the drives (along with my new ones) to their office in person and after a quick diagnosis, Larry presented me with a detailed and realistic overview of what to expect, giving me only a 20% chance of success.  The quote was also way below other estimates I had been given from the other companies I had considered, and with over 20 years of experience behind them, the choice to go with Data Recovery New Jersey was obvious.  A few weeks later and to everyone's surprise, ALL of my data was recovered.  They transferred everything to my new drives, sent them to me and my final bill ended up being half of the price I was quoted. Larry also gave me detailed advice on manufacturer recommendations and the best ways to preserve my data and prevent this from happening again.  My desktop build is complete with a brand new set of drives and two redundant backups, one internal and one external. You are life savers!  I cannot thank you enough for recovering all of my data.  I thought my situation was hopeless and I was resigned to accepting that everything was lost forever.  Data Recovery New Jersey rocks!
